Canna World's Tallest Musifolia is a towering canna lily that brings bold, tropical charm to any garden. Growing 72 to 96 inches tall with a spread of up to 48 inches, its banana-sized leaves are the centerpiece, featuring a lush, bronzed finish with variegated ribs and edges. Late-season reddish-coral blooms add a delicate contrast, enhancing its vibrant, dramatic presence. Whether used as a focal point or in group plantings, this canna lily transforms any space into a tropical paradise.
A rhizomatous tender perennial suited for Zones 8-11, Musifolia thrives in warm, sunny climates and grows quickly with an upright habit. It's ideal for planting in beds, borders, or large patio containers, where its massive size creates a bold and unforgettable statement. For an even more dramatic effect, plant it in clusters or masses to achieve a lush, exotic look.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, Musifolia flourishes in sunny to partially shaded areas with nutrient-rich, well-draining soil. Consistent moisture is key, but good drainage is essential to prevent bulb rot. Remove spent blooms by cutting the entire flowering stem, and let the foliage naturally die back before trimming. Its deer-resistant qualities and tropical appearance make it a standout choice for gardens or landscapes.
Plant Musifolia rhizomes in spring when the soil is warm, burying them 2 to 4 inches deep and spacing them 18 to 24 inches apart with shoots (3-5 eyes) facing upward. Mulch around plants for added winter protection in warmer zones. In colder regions, plant rhizomes in early summer and lift them in fall for frost-free storage, ready for replanting the following season.
